Dizzy's Cartoon Adventure on Fantasy World!

Dizzy & Daisy strolled through the enchanted forest without a care in the world...

But suddenly the Evil King's trolls seized poor Daisy! She was sent to the Wizards Weird's Tallest Tower, while Dizzy was dragged away and thrown into the deepest, darkest, dankest of the King's Dungeons in the bowels of Fantasy World.

Dizzy was frightened! Who knew what fate awaited him...and he still hadn't done this week's homework!

But then he remembered that he had a fresh green apple that he had planned to give to his teacher to escape detention, and he cheered up. And there was some bread and water on the table!

A cunning plan began to brew in his mind...

About

The Oliver Twins' Dizzy saga continues on the Atari Jaguar! Fantasy World Dizzy is the second Dizzy game we've brought to the Jaguar. We still have copies of Treasure Island Dizzy available, but they won't last long!

Dizzy and The Yolkfolk are characters created by the Oliver Twins, and these characters would appear in many games during the 8 and 16-bit eras. Most of their appearances were in multi-screen platform adventure puzzle games, however, they also appeared in some great arcade games as the title characters.

Slowly, over the course of the series, we learn more about this odd little family and help them out of the tricky situations they find themselves in by visiting the many varied locations of their magical world.

Fantasy World Dizzy is the second in a series of Dizzy titles to be released on the Atari Jaguar. The games were a huge hit in Europe in the late 80s and early 90s, with many of the Dizzy titles climbing to the top of video game charts. If you're outside of Europe, you may not be familiar with the Dizzy series, and we're happy to introduce Dizzy and the Yolkfolk to gamers who may never have experienced them before. We hope you enjoy them!

With thanks to the Oliver Twins and Codemasters. The Oliver Twins and Codemasters generously donate all their royalties to Special Effect and The National Videogame Museum.

I really enjoyed the previous port, Treasure Island Dizzy but that one had save states. The lack of save states in this port makes it a bit more difficult. I've played different ports of Fantastic Dizzy since I was a kid, but IMO Fantasy World Dizzy is a bit harder. I do like to see more platformers come to the Jaguar though, (especially Dizzy) so I will keep trying. Hopefully the ports of Dizzy for Jaguar will keep coming.

I'll give this a 4 out of 5 for leaving it the same as the original release but would have given it a 5 if save states had been optional (or even just adding a title screen options menu with an easy mode setting for more lives)
