The Game Grid

Welcome to the Game Grid! No one has ever escaped from its confines, and now you find yourself here, relentlessly attacked by waves of enemy warriors. Armed with a deadly disc, fight off your attackers while avoiding their own discs! Jam open doors to create escape routes, but be wary of the giant Identifier! You may never escape, but try to claim the high score before you fall!

Gameplay

Your objective is to survive in the Game Grid as long as you can! To do so, you must use your disc to fight off waves of attackers whose only goal is to destroy you! You can also use your disc to defend against attackers' discs. There are six types of enemy warriors who will attack you in the Grid. As your score increases, the warriors get faster and more dangerous! You can take advantage of doors on opposite sides of the arena to make a quick getaway.

But beware the dreaded Identifier, which will periodically arrive in the arena to repair doors that you have previously jammed open! The Identifier is instantly lethal to the touch, so don't go near it! Once the Identifier begins its work, it will dispatch a paralyzer to immobilize you. The Identifier does have a weak spot, it's eye! When the eye turns white, a well-placed disc will break it. The eye can also be struck from the side if you can get your disc past the defensive shields.

Twin Stick Mode

In this mode, the player will use two controllers plugged into controller ports #1 and #2. The joystick on controller #2 is used to throw and recall your disc. Press the stick in the direction you wish to throw the disc. While the disc is in flight, move the joystick in the opposite direction of its flight to recall it.

Blocking/crouch mode is toggled by any button on the second controller. This includes the numeric keypad and the START, PAUSE, and RESET buttons.

Battle Mode

Battle mode allows two, three, or four players to fight each other in the Game Grid. The battle is conducted as a series of rounds. In each round, all players fight until only one remains. Each player has a score. At the end of a round, if any player has a score of at least ten points, the battle will end and the player with the highest score is the winner.

Each time a player is destroyed, all other players that are still alive receive one point. Every player is able to take five hits, but all of the recovery functions present in arcade mode are disabled! Damage in battle mode is permanent.

Intellidiscs Overlays

Included with Intellidiscs are two overlays for use with standard Atari 5200 controllers. These are the first overlays we've created for an Atari 5200 game, and they are a big help when you're in the heat of battle, as Intellidiscs makes extensive use of the controller keypad!

Get an Intellidiscs Box!

If you'd like a boxed copy of Intellidiscs, please select "Box Upgrade: Yes" at the top of the page before adding Intellidiscs to your cart. Our boxes are professionally printed and include a box insert to hold your Intellidiscs cartridge in place. We want you to play our games, so we have not sealed or shrinkwrapped the boxes in any way, allowing you easy access to the game cartridge and manual.

These boxes are the same size as boxes Atari produced for their games "back in the day". They look great sitting on a shelf with your other boxed homebrew games, or alongside games from the classic Atari 2600 library. We only have a limited number of boxes for each game, and there is no guarantee they will become available again once our supplies are exhausted.
