EXPERIENCE THE OTHER SIDE OF THE CONSOLE WAR

Released to compete with the Atari 2600, the Intellivision challenged Atari’s dominance in living rooms and created a rivalry that became known as the First Console War. Intellivision offered players more realistic sports and strategy games, richer graphics, and unique, multi-input controllers.

For its 45th anniversary, the Intellivision Sprint brings 45 of the system's best games back to living rooms – now upgraded with HDMI and wireless controllers. Play Boulder Dash in its first official Intellivision release, along with classic favorites Baseball, Shark! Shark!, Astrosmash, and more. Each game comes with new overlays that map the game’s specific controls.

Haven’t played Intellivision games without an emulator since I was a kid

Haven’t played Intellivision games without an emulator since I was a kid. Still remember paying each game! Adding more games is easy, thank you!

This is incredibly fun

This is incredibly fun. Like taking a time machine backwards in time and ALMOST having the muscle memory to place Baseball (*yer out!') immediatey.

Let's face it, by today's standards Intellivision controls are horrific and the graphics are ... well, must it be said. HOWEVER, this product proves that fun doesn't need to look realistic. Fun is when two people of any age (unless your fingers are slow) can sit down in front of a TV and get into it! My friend and I (56) taught his sons (13 and 11) to play Baseball. The controls were at first hard to navigate quickly -- but once everyone knew where to push to get the right basemen, we were ENGAGED. One kid started playing his Mario Kart while he was waiting to play and, despite the light years apart in graphics, I think we all were having MORE FUN playing Intellivision!

Are kids without parents from the generation 1979 to 1983 generation want to play this all the time instead of PS5. No way. But when they experience what it's like to play something that fundamentally fun no matter what it looks like, and someone to play it with who loves it, they will enjoy it. It's like Monopoly. Simple. But if one adult is into it, the kids will likely want to try and it will be hard to stop once competition sets in.

My complaint is that, even though the controls were bad with the original, the card inserts already started getting worn out within an hour. And they stopped staying in the controller nicely. So, that might be how it was in the old days, but I didn't find that endearing. I also found the controllers to not feel as comfortable as they did on the ORIGINAL Intellivision (which wasn't great). It seems they are more like the Sears version of the Intellivision (which was crappier). I've heard the controls may be usable. Might have them somewhere.

Ane while there are 45 games installed, I own a LOT more cartridges. It's great that side-loading games that I own (not on cartridge) could still be possible to play.

All in, if you loved Intellivision in the past, you will likely still remember your childhood better and, for me, that is well work the price.

The Days of Electronic Imagination, Wonder, and Awe

Today’s generation has grown-up with life-like graphics and realism in games that is taken for granted. Smartphones are glued to hands. TVs allow you to choose the program or movie you watch. But along comes an old friend that is preserving what made an entire generation dream, imagine, create worlds from the blocky pixels that represented the characters or vehicles on our screens. That friend is Atari, the company so many of us grew up with. In addition to the re-release of their own consoles, they have brought back to us another company’s console to which they now own the rights, a console so many of us also loved - the Intellivison. Now renamed the Intellivision Sprint, the console is slightly smaller, but you really won't pay much attention to that. It is such a faithful reproduction, right down to the full-sized controllers that are updated to be wireless, you will swear you have stepped back into childhood. And if you never had one, you will be able to appreciate why the world’s first 16-bit system was considered such an advancement for its time, when it was introduced in 1979. The Intellivision Sprint has 45 of the system’s most popular games built-in. Through the USBc port, you are able to add additional game ROMs, load system updates, or connect Intellivision II controllers. Additionally, you are able to connect the Sprint directly to the HDMI port on any modern TV or monitor. The system is built solidly and with such exceptional quality. The games and interface on the screen look beautiful and bright. The controllers are highly responsive. And the included overlays are just like the originals. The Intellivsion Sprint is pure joy! It is everything retrogaming should be: nostalgic, well-done, and above all, FUN!!! I can't imagine anyone being disappointed in the Intellivision Sprint. Thank you, Atari, for continuing to give us the best from the past, while boldly looking toward the future.

Best thing I’ve bought!

Absolutely loving Intellivision again!! I’m an 80’s kid and was about to buy an original that had been refurbished and on a whim did a google search and found the sprint! Works great, connects easily and the wireless control are awesome! Hoping for an update with Lock n Chase, but until then it’s Astrosmash!!
