Paddlefield will ship in November, as we're presently busy getting ready for the Portland Retro Gaming Expo in mid-October. |
Paddlefield
The eternal battle between day and night, good and bad.
The Pong Wars screensaver turned into a game.
Gameplay
Control your ball with your paddle to either reach the opposite border or conquer and cover more blocks than your opponent. The number of blocks you still have to cover is displayed at the bottom of the screen on the player's side.
In paddle variations, you can change the trajectory depending on where the ball hits your paddle. In some variations you can also steer the ball by moving the controller far off center. Steering is activated when the ball hits your paddle and lasts until the ball hits a border or is returning after hitting a block.
Game variations
Paddlefield features thousands of game variations, which you can select using an innovative, single-line menu at the bottom of the screen.
You can enter menu mode in one of two ways. The first method is to simply press the SELECT switch on the console. Or you can move the left paddle to the very top of the screen and press the FIRE button.
The menu has two levels. At the top level, you can select the option (e.g. players, controls, speeds, paddlefields, colors) you want to choose or change. To select the previous or next option, turn the paddle left or right until an arrow appears and you hear a click. Then turn the paddle back to the center until the arrow disappears and a different click sounds.
Press FIRE to enter the 2nd menu level and adjust the current option. Press fire to return to the top level.
